How to Cure Gout in 24 hours Naturally

Hey guys, Dr. Axe here, founder of draxe.com. Today, I'm going to give you my top, six home remedies to heal gout. Gout is something that's plaguing more and more people every day, and it's caused from uric acid buildup in the body. I want to go over my top six home remedies, but right before that go over the diet that is crucial to get rid of gout, and the worst food offenders. So if you have gout, the first thing you have to do is eliminate the excess sugar and grains in your diet, and then processed meat. So again, excess sugar, grains, and processed meat products are some of the biggest foods you need to get out of your diet.

Sugar feeds yeast in the body, the conventional grains turn into sugar, and then those meats, the problem there is, they're full of hormones and antibiotics and they're so acidic to your system. Then in terms of beverages, staying away from alcohol. So again, those are the best things you can do right now to eliminate gout symptoms. Stay away from those foods.

In terms of a gout diet, a diet very high in vegetables and fruits, and then organic meats. So again, vegetables, fruits, organic meat. Some of the best foods include things like bone broth and chicken vegetable soup. That's a good gout diet. Now here are my top six home remedies to get rid of gout for good. Here's what I can tell you, if you follow these tips, you can get rid of gout in 24 hours or less. That fast, you can get rid of gout pain for good.

Step number one: Celery seed extract and celery juice. Celery seed extract actually has been shown to decrease uric acid buildup in the body. So again, you can buy the supplement, celery seed extract, or get a vegetable juicer out, juice celery juice. Or just eat celery throughout the day. Great for getting rid of gout. Number two home remedy for gout is black cherry juice or cherry juice extract. Cherry juice, very similar benefits, it reduces inflammation, it reduces uric acid buildup in the body.

And these two things, if you just did celery and black cherry juice, you will see very fast results in getting rid of gout. The third thing you can do is nettles. You can actually buy nettles tea, and nettles is a powerful anti-inflammatory phyto-nutrient. So again, starting to do stinging nettles, you can buy that as a supplement or drink it as a tea, it's great for getting rid of gout.

Number four home remedy to get rid of gout for good is going to be fish oil. Now fish oil doesn't act as fast as the first two, but over time, fish oil is packed with omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation in your body, decreasing your risk of gout.

And last but not least here in terms of supplements, and actually I have one more after this. That's going to be proteolytic enzymes like bromelain. Now bromelain is found in the core of a pineapple, it's an enzyme that's been shown to help reduce uric acid and inflammation.

One other remedy I've seen that's been very beneficial, this is number six, is magnesium. Magnesium supplementation, it's an alkaline mineral. That alkaline mineral can also decrease uric acid formation in the body.

I guarantee if you try, if you get rid of the things that I talked about earlier, the excess alcohol, the sugar, the grains, the conventional meats, if you add in a diet higher in fruits and vegetables and if you use those six home remedies, the celery seed extract, the black cherry juice, the nettles, the fish oil, the bromelain and magnesium, and if you just have to pick two, celery seed extract and black cherry juice, you will see your gout gone in 24 hours or less.

Healthy Foods to Stock Your Pantry

I'm Dara. I'm a busy mom of three and have a husband who is a vegetarian. For us, eating healthy sometimes is left on the back burner. So, Dara, here we are at your pantry. Tell me a little bit about what you would find in your pantry. Well, this is carb land. This is what my kids like to eat. They like to have cereal for breakfast. They like to have pasta for dinner. OK, so today, we're going to give you a little bit of a pantry makeover, so you can feel good about giving your kids what they want. Well, I want to point out that you have some really healthy items in here already. You have unsweetened applesauce, you have canned tuna and you have canned beans—all great choices. Let's take a look at the crackers.

You want to make sure that each cracker has at least two grams of fiber per serving, and 200 milligrams or less of sodium. I see you have a lot of cereal in here. Cereal can really pack in a lot of hidden added sugar, so you want to look for a cereal that has less than 7 grams of sugar per serving. And the other thing is, you want to make sure it has at least three grams of fiber, also per serving. As an alternative to cereal, if you want to mix it up, I would say, try out some oats or some oatmeal. Pasta was a big choice at dinner, right? Definitely. Pasta really doesn't deserve the bad reputation that it's had. It's a great quick dinner choice. The other thing, too, is try mixing it up. So, quinoa, they cook up really, really quickly. Or farro, that's another great one. Or brown rice. Now you have all the elements of a healthy pantry.

How To Train Your Brain To Eat Healthier!

We all know that we should be eating healthier, but does that mean we have to cut out our favorite fatty foods? What’s the answer? The short version: Size matters. Hey everyone, this is Matt Lieberman filling in for DNews. Researchers at Vanderbilt University have released a new study that offers a new solution to the age old problem of diet and portion control. Now, dieting seems pretty cut and dry, in principle. Don’t eat unhealthy food, eat more vegetables, exercise regularly, shower, rinse, repeat. But more often than not, our draconian attempts to cut out the pleasurable fats, salts, and sugars that our brains crave cause diets to crash and burn in their early days, or just make us miserable.

However, the trick is to not “diet” at all, but to shift the ratio of portions over time via something the associate professor of Management Kelly L. Haws calls vice-virtue bundles. She and her colleagues discovered that all people have something called a “taste-health balance point” - namely, the proportion of healthy to unhealthy foods in a single meal that will leave that person satisfied with their taste and nutritional choices. It’s different for everyone, and I’m sure that more than one of you has already decided that their balance point looks like a Big Mac with extra lettuce on it.

But here’s the thing: based on the study, most people fall into a similar range. Namely, the perfect vice-virtue bundle has about one quarter to one half vice foods, and half to three quarters virtue foods. The example they provide is a plate of french fries and apple slices. For most people, their brains only need a small portion of fries to satisfy the vice appetite in their brain, while the apple slices handle the rest of their hunger in a nutritious way.

The study goes on to theorize that vice-virtue bundles could revolutionize the the fast food industry, which has undergone changes as Americans seek out healthier food options. By bundling their existing items that are pure vice and pure virtue, they could create new and attractive options at a relatively low cost.

So what can we take away from this study and apply to our own lives? By finding our taste-health balance point, we can allow ourselves the fatty, greasy, buttery foods that we love, in a portion that maximizes our desire for healthier options. The delicious part? Finding that balance one meal at a time. So what do you think about this study? Do you know what your taste-health balance point is? Let us know in the comments below. I’m Matt Lieberman filling in for DNews. You can find more of my videos over at Sourcefed. Please like the video and subscribe to the channel.

How To Clear A Sinus Infection With 3 Natural Remedies

how I overcame a pretty severe nasal infection with natural remedies. The nasal infection was a result of me being sick for a couple of weeks. I had really severe congestion right in this area. In fact, it was so bad and so painful that I actually thought that maybe my root canal was failing.

I had that happen once before on this side of my mouth. I had all of this pain, blowing out nasty snot out of just this nostril. I was a little bit concerned. Here's what I did. It's something I haven't done in a long time. I used the Neti Pot concept, which is basically pushing water in one nostril, out the other, with natural remedy formula.

Here's what I did. I used a product called Nasaline, which is essentially a tube that you can put water into. But you don't just put water in here. You put some sea salt, which comes with the product, and then I also added nano silver, which is antibacterial. I added sea salt, nano silver, water, and then I'm in the shower when I'm doing this so I'm leaning over and I'm pushing water in through one nostril and it's coming out the other nostril. I know, it sounds gross but it totally works.

When you're adding Nano Silver and sea salt to the area up here, the cavity, basically what's going on is we're killing all of the bad bacteria. I got to tell you, I was actually very pleasantly surprised. I'm telling you the truth. It was cleared within 24 hours, absolutely gone in 24 hours. This is something that you can try at home. This is the product:

Nasaline. This is what comes in there, the little tube, and the sea salt. Don't forget to get your nano silver. You can get this stuff at any health food store. You can get it online as well. This one is called MesoSilver. Worked great for me. There's an alternate this is your traditional Neti Pot, which looks like this. The Neti Pot, you would just tilt your head and pour it in. Totally good way to go. However, I really like this because you can push the water through if you have any blockage. That's it for now. I really enjoyed being able to use this remedy and I think you will too. If you ever have any kind of nasal congestion or particularly an infection, I highly recommend it.

Home Remedies - Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

Among the few infections that do not surface in the initial stages... is urinary tract infection. It is caused by germs, particularly bacteria. Women are more susceptible to it because they have a shorter urinary tract. UTIs are usually not serious, especially when treated in time. However, they could be a source of great discomfort and embarrassment because of severe symptoms like:

burning sensation during urination Cloudy and smelly urine The urge to urinate even when after the bladder is emptied and pressure in the lower abdomen and back. Though poor hygiene and sexual intercourse top the list of UTI causes, Some other factors that could increase the chances of this malady are kidney stones, menopause and enlarged prostate. While drinking 3-4 glasses of unsweetened cranberry juice can be beneficial in treating this infection, there are some other home remedies that you need to look.

Take a glass of water.

And mix 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in it and drink this solution. You can also add lemon juice and sweeten it with a little honey.  Apple cider vinegar inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause UTIs. Another home remedy that you can try. Take a cup of water. Add 1 teaspoon of Indian gooseberry or amla powder to it and 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder.

5Boil the solution until half the water evaporates And drink the residue 3 times a day for up to 3-5 days. Tips to help you deal with UTI. Include vitamin C rich foods in your diet, and avoid sugary foods and beverages. Increase your water intake. And you may also drink tender coconut water to relieve burning sensation during urination. To prevent UTIs, make sure you urinate before and after the intercourse. And do not neglect the urge to go to the bathroom.

Diagnosis of dementia and Alzheimer's disease

So there isn't one stand-alone test that will show whether someone has dementia or Alzheimer's disease, since the typical symptoms like memory loss, confusion, and others, can have a whole slew of potential causes. That being said, it's not usually diagnosed until a complete medical assessment is performed. But what all does that entail? Well, first off, a healthcare professional might take a look at the patient's history.

They'll try to gather information from the patients themselves as well as from their friends and family. They'll probably ask questions like what kind of symptoms have you noticed? Or when did you start noticing them? How often do they happen?

And have you noticed them getting any worse? They'll also try to evaluate the patient's emotional state. A lot of the time the patient might be completely unaware of their current state or they might be in denial about it. And this can be tough because sometimes even other family members will deny its progression because many of the early signs of dementia also tend to look just like normal signs of aging.

And this is just another reason why it makes diagnosis of dementia very, very hard and why we have to rely on other methods of diagnosis as well. So a physical examination can also be done. In these, your doctor will check things like your hearing or your eyesight, your heart and your lungs, your temperature, your blood pressure, and your pulse. And they may also take things like blood and urine samples.

Information from these can help the doctor figure out if there are any other underlying health issues that are causing or contributing to the dementia itself, like heart problems and vascular dementia or if there's another condition that's mimicking symptoms of dementia, since other conditions like anemia or depression, infection, diabetes, kidney disease, and others can also cause dementia-like symptoms, like confused thinking and memory problems. But besides physical exams, a neurological evaluation may also be done.

And this'll look at the patient's nervous system and will test things like balance and sensory function using lights and also your reflexes, using that tiny hammer and lightly tapping it on the knee. The doctor might also give the patient a cognitive or a neuropsychological test, which are used to kind of objectively measure the patient's current memory, language skills, math skills, and other abilities as they relate to mental function. And one big one's called the mini mental state examination or MMSE.

And this test can be particularly helpful in diagnosing dementia because it looks at orientation, memory, and attention. For example, it might ask to follow verbal or written commands or write down a sentence spontaneously or copy a complex shape. And depending on the score, a certain level of dementia might be suggested. Scores of about 20 to 24 suggest mild dementia, 13 to 20 suggests moderate dementia, and less than 13 would suggest a severe case of dementia. And typically patients with Alzheimer's disease tend to drop two to four points on average every year.

Another more simple test that might be administered is called the mini-cog test. In this test the patient is asked to name three objects and then repeat them back to the doctor, like car, chair, and mug. For the next part, the patient is asked to draw an analog clock and also asked to draw a specific time. Thirdly, the patient's asked what those three objects initially were, car, chair, and mug. If the patient fails one or all of these tests, it might suggest signs of dementia and may require a further evaluation. Another potential test is the psychiatric evaluation or mood assessment.

They'll try to assess the patient's current level of well-being, looking for signs of depression or other mood disorders that can also contribute to symptoms that overlap with dementia symptoms. Finally, the patient might have brain scans. With a brain scan the brain's actually visualized through techniques like computed tomography or CT scans or magnetic resonance imaging or MRI.

And there are several reasons why we might want one these performed. They might be useful in identifying larger masses, like tumors, that can be contributing to the cognitive impairment. But it might also help in making a differential diagnosis, meaning that we'll try to look to figure out what type of dementia is at play. Sometimes by looking at where the most atrophy of brain tissue is localized, we can figure out what type of dementia it is.

For example, atrophy that's localized to the hippocampus might suggest Alzheimer's disease or the frontal lobe might suggest frontotemporal dementia or vascular pathologies that are visualized might suggest vascular dementia. And another reason for a brain scan might be to monitor disease progression. Several imaging sessions over several years might show how the brain has changed over time. More atrophy might be indicative of disease progression whereas if the atrophy has stayed the same over time, it might suggest that a different or a more static cognitive disease is at play.

Finally, imaging is really, really valuable for research purposes, especially with respect to structural imaging and figuring out which structures are affected first by the disease in addition to any chemical processes that might be involved. And this information helps physicians and researchers alike understand dementia as a disease and develop more effective treatments in the future.

Home Remedies for Canker Sores

There couldn't be a worse morning when you wake up with a bad taste in the mouth, caused due to canker sores. Canker sores are mouth ulcers that are painful, but not contagious. Simply put, they are small crater-like ulcers with a white or yellow center. Usually, they heal within a couple of weeks. And they are mostly accompanied by a tingling or burning sensation around the affected area. Unlike cold sores, they are not caused by the herpes simplex virus.

But causes, there are many. For instance, accidental cheek bites, consumption of acidic or spicy foods, food allergies and sensitivities, emotional stress, nutritional deficiencies, low immunity and inflammatory bowel diseases. It is advised to take remedial measures as soon as you notice the initial signs or symptoms. A simple and fast way to get relief from pain and inflammation is to apply ice cubes on the affected area. To get relief form the painful canker sores these are some easy-to-do home remedies that you can try. For the first home remedy.

We take a quarter teaspoon of turmeric 51 teaspoon honey. Mix these two thoroughly. Then apply this on the affected area. Rinse it off after 15-20 minutes. For this next remedy to treat your canker sores. We need 1 cup of water. And coriander seeds. You may also use coriander leaves instead of coriander seeds For now I am using the seeds. We will take 1 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds. And boil it. After boiling the seeds in water. Strain the concoction. And rinse your mouth with this solution for about 3-4 times a day while it is still lukewarm. For this next home remedy to treat your canker sores, you need:

2 cups of water, take about 1 tablespoon of licorice root also known as mulethi. Soak the licorice root in water for about 2-3 hours. And use it as a mouth rinse. Now some quick tips to help you heal your canker sores. Soothe the affected area by applying cold used tea bags. Aloe vera gel and tea tree oil mixed in water also are helpful in providing relief. If you are prone to mouth sores, avoid using toothpaste containing sodium lauryl sulfate as it can cause irritation. And avoid taking hot foods and beverages and spicy foods until your canker sores heal. And once you've tasted the success and are done with canker sores, here's wishing you bon appétit!

Treatment of dementia and Alzheimer's disease

Scientists and physicians continue to learn more and more about Alzheimer's disease and dementia in general, but unfortunately, they still haven't found a cure. With that said, though, there are medications that can help lesson the symptoms of dementia, like memory loss and confusion. Currently, all the medications approved by the Food and Drug Administration or the FDA are aimed at either one of two neurotransmitters:

acetylcholine or glutamate. The first class of drugs are cholinesterase inhibitors. Acetylcholine is a really important neurotransmitter in our brain and nervous system. Even though it has important functions in other parts of our body, in our brain, it helps our neurons communicate. And it's this communication of our neurons that allows our brain to think and do things like sustain attention, sense things, learn and remember things.

Okay, so, say we have these two neurons here that are trying to communicate, one transmitting neuron and one receiving neuron. The transmitting neuron releases the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which then binds to an acetylcholine receptor on the receiving neuron. And this is how these two neurons communicate, right? To sort of regulate this process, though, you have this enzyme that constantly breaks down the acetylcholine that's being released and this sort of makes sure that too much doesn't build up.

And this guy is called acetylcholinesterase, and it breaks acetylcholine down into acetic acid and choline. Think of acetylcholinesterase like Pac-Man and all of these acetylcholines as the little dots that he eats. He's constantly going around eating the dots, but some of them may get by to communicate between the neurons. So, it's like this balance, right, of some of the dots being eaten and some communicating.

Acetylcholinesterase is a type of cholinesterase. So, if we throw a cholinesterase inhibitor into the mix, like the ghost in Pac-Man, then we inhibit or stop our Pac-Man from doing his job of eating the dots, right? Which means more of these dots build up, and we tilt the balance in favor of the dots or acetylcholine. Now, patients with Alzheimer's disease, though, already have decreased levels of dots in the first place. So, with Pac-Man there, they have even less.

But if we inhibit Pac-Man, then we have less dots being eaten, right? And so, we end up with more active acetylcholine. And by doing this, by stopping the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, we can help neurons communicate in people with Alzheimer's disease. And this medication can help delay worsening of dementia symptoms for about six to 12 months on average, for about half of the patients that take them.

And although they're usually pretty well tolerated, some side effects can include nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. All right, so that's the first type of medication for Alzheimer's disease. The second type targets the neurotransmitter glutamate, and is called memantine. Just like acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, memantine is prescribed to help patients with symptoms related to memory, attention, reasoning, and language skills.

Instead of acetylcholine, though, now we focus on this neurotransmitter called glutamate. Glutamate, when at normal levels, actually helps our learning and memory, and is considered an excitatory neurotransmitter. When glutamate levels get too high, though, it's actually toxic to the cell. And we use the word called excitotoxicity, where the cell gets actually too stimulated and may die as a result.

Having too much glutamate is thought to be one possible way that people with Alzheimer's disease lose nerve cells and therefore have problems learning and remembering new things. So, again, we've got our two neurons transmitting and receiving, right? And we have this receptor on the receiving neuron called the NMDA receptor, which is also like this channel or gateway that lets in ions to the receiving cell.

Now, this gateway lets them in when glutamate binds to it. So, if there's too much glutamate and this gateway is always open, then the receiving neuron can suffer from excitotoxicity, because it's like always being stimulated. Now, memantine blocks this receptor for glutamate, so it keeps this channel closed more. And when it's closed more, we bring down the stimulation to normal levels and avoid killing the cell by overstimulating it.

Think of glutamate like this key that opens the door to this party down here, letting all the ions in. If too many get in, though, the party gets too big and too crowded and out of control. If we put a different lock on the door, memantine, then the key won't open it, and the party stays at reasonable levels. Now, memantine is used most often to treat moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease, and will often be taken alongside cholinesterase inhibitors.

Some side effects can be things like headache, confusion, and dizziness. So, switching gears a little bit, other forms of treatment often target behavioral symptoms, like agitation, irritability, aggression, and anxiety. Usually, it's preferred to focus on treatments that don't use medications for these, though, like behavioral modification, since a lot of medications intended to treat behavioral symptoms can actually increase confusion and can even be associated with increased mortality.

Cholesterol and Alzheimer’s disease

Millions suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. And the available and foreseeable treatments are disappointing at best. Given the absence of disease-modifying treatments, there has been growing interest in effective strategies for the prevention of the disease in the first place. Even if we were able to just delay the onset by as little as one year, we could potentially prevent more than nine million cases over the next 40 years.

Once cognitive functions are lost in Alzheimer’s disease patients, they may be lost forever. Consequently, prevention, rather than a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease, appears as a more realistic strategy to offset the catastrophic impact of this dementia. Considerable evidence now indicates that Alzheimer’s disease is primarily a vascular disorder, based on a number of lines of evidence that point towards impaired circulation of blood to the brain Vascular risk factors such as high cholesterol can be thought of as a ticking time bomb to Alzheimer’s Disease. What’s bad for the heart may be bad for the mind.

Traditionally, there have been two competing theories for the cause of Alzheimer’s, the amyloid cascade model that implicates the buildup of amyloid plaques within the brain, and the vascular model that argues that is the lack of adequate blood flow to the brain due to atherosclerosis. We now realize they are not mutually exclusive, and that arterial disease can set up a vicious cycle in which atherosclerotic plaques in the arteries may contribute to Alzheimer’s plaques in the brain.

Although at times portrayed as tantamount to poison, cholesterol is an essential structural component of all our cells,  but if there’s too much it can become a major factor contributing to various diseases including coronary artery disease, stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. Too much cholesterol in our blood is unanimously recognized to be a risk factor for the development Alzheimer’s disease, and cholesterol may play an active role in the progression of Alzheimer’s as well. Autopsy studies have found that Alzheimer’s brains have significantly more cholesterol than normal brains, and specifically appears to accumulate in the Alzheimer brain plaques.

But we used to think the pool of cholesterol in the brain was separate from the pool we had in our blood, but there is now growing evidence to the contrary. For example, LDL may be able to cross the blood–brain barrier into the brain. So a high-fat diet may not only increase cholesterol levels in the blood,  but also the influx of cholesterol into the central nervous system. In addition, having high cholesterol may even damage the blood brain barrier itself and allow for even more cholesterol to flow into the brain, providing the missing link between high cholesterol and Alzheimer’s. Individuals with higher cholesterol levels at midlife have a higher risk of going on to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

A cholesterol over 250 could potentially triple the odds of Alzheimer’s. And now we have high-tech PET scanning of the brain that can directly correlate the amount of so-called bad cholesterol in our blood with the amount of amyloid build up in our brain. You can do it right in a petri dish. Adding cholesterol makes them churn out more the amyloid that makes up Alzheimer plaques, whereas removing cholesterol can decrease the level of amyloid released from cells. In addition, amyloid degradation is less efficient, clearing amyloid is less efficient in a high cholesterol environment. Cholesterol can then help seed the clumping of the amyloid.

Using an electron microscope you can see the clustering of amyloid fibers  on and around little microcrystals of cholesterol. Once in the brain, cholesterol can also undergo auto-oxidation, causing the formation of highly toxic free radicals. So having high cholesterol levels in the blood is thought to increase the risk of dementia not only by inducing atherosclerosis and impairing blood flow, but may directly affect the neurodegeneration within the brain. In conclusion, excess dietary cholesterol could in principle contribute to the development of Alzheimer’s disease, and the evidence linking high cholesterol to Alzheimer’s appears to be steadily mounting. Of course, some of this work was paid for by drug companies hoping to capitalize on Alzheimer’s with cholesterol-lowering statin drugs;

ironic, since statins themselves can cause cognitive impairment. Though rare, statin side-effects may include short- and long-term memory loss, behavioral changes, impaired concentration and attention, paranoia, and anxiety, as early as five days after starting the drugs, but sometimes even months later, though folks should recover within a month of stopping the drugs.

A better strategy then, may be to change the lifestyle factors that lead to the high cholesterol in the first place, in particular saturated fat from the diet, but it’s not enough for us to just tell our individual patients. Systematic implementation of educational campaigns promoting radical changes in cultural and societal values may be necessary to adopt Alzheimer’s defeating strategies by patients in a broader sense, and such actions may provide potentially huge dividends by preventing both cardiovascular disease and dementia, two of our leading causes of death.

Improving Health with Nutrition : Natural Allergy Remedies

This clip is about allergies and we are talking about both food allergies as well as environmental allergies. So, actually the reason we can address these together is because they are very much related in many many cases and it all has to do with your immune system and how much load is coming on to your immune system because at a certain point your immune system gets tired and it says.

I can't handle this and that is when allergies start becoming rampant and you start reacting to more and more things and I don't know if you've experienced this but most people who have allergies start with one or two and then in the next couple of years they are allergic to lots of things so the most important thing that you can do to reverse your allergies is to fortify your immune system.

The way you do that is by eliminating things that are stressing your immune system and improving things like your gastrointestinal health and your mineral health so here are a couple of supplements that you can use to improve your GI health as well as your immune health, zinc and protein are two of my favorites.

This viewer asks, what are nutritional and herbal remedies for treating seasonal allergies? Good question because there are many. First off, you want to look at your overall health and consider some of the tips that help reduce your allergies, and this includes your dietary choices because there's often a crossover between foods and environmental allergies. So when we clean up or diet, we can improve upon our allergies, and I mention this in some of the previous videos on cleansing on UHCTV. And some of the nutrients that work and some of my patients report good results are with vitamin C and quercetin, a bioflavonoid that has an antihistamine-like effect.

And many of my patients and myself will take vitamin C, probably 500-1000 milligrams several times a day and quercetin. They often come in 250-500mg capsules and also do those three times a day. And it may take a couple weeks to have an effect on that. Some of the herbs that work at helping reduce allergies commonly are stinging nettle, cat's claw, butter burr, perilla seed which also works for asthma or helps it with asthma and several of those. Now if allergies are fairly bad, it's a good idea to consult with your doctor, and you may even want to see an allergist to do skin testing and then consider either desensitization which is a reduction of allergies through shots or sublingual drops.

Also it's wise to help prevent and reduce your allergic exposure, and you can do this by having a good air purifier at home, one with a HEPA filter, sometimes wear a mask when you're out in the intense part of the day or if you're out in the backyard and you're sensitive to grasses or you're sweeping and you're exposed to dust. Even temporarily that can help that increased exposure. And also it's generally a good idea to consult with your doctor or other practitioner to help oversee and guide you in a proper program for working with natural treatments for allergies.

How to Allergy Prevention Naturally

Today is the first day of spring, and one of the things about yoga that makes it so interesting is that yoga is about being in harmony with the seasons. So our physical body of course is nature. We typically think of nature as trees and that which is out there. Yoga says your physical body and your mental body, your entire being is a function of nature.

So yoga attempts to give each person a practice that will allow that person to resonate with their natural radiance. Ok, so being the first day of spring yoga says, ok, what does spring look like in our own body? So I walked in the studio today, couple of folks said things are popping, everything is budding, my sinuses are stuffed up, the allergies are hitting.

So right off the bat there are some great things we can do just sort of getting the body open and ready for spring. Spring is a beautiful time, there's a lot more energy available, so people find a lot more creative energy. They're running around doing things, but as things pop, the pollens are in the air, we need to keep our channels open. So i'm gonna show a couple really simple yoga techniques. Will this help folks with allergies? Absolutely.

Here's a couple of really simple techniques for allergies. So every morning when you wake up, you go to the bathroom wash your face, brush your teeth, just throw this into the mix. Just about 10 times, stick your thumb right in the base of your nose, rub up kind of firm, rub up to about the middle of your forehead. just about 10-15 times. All the way up? Yep, all the the way up. Do that about 10 or 15 times. Then you're gonna bring your fingers right to the corners of your nose. You're gonna press in, rub out, about 10 or 15 times.

I have to do that before my make-up, cause i want my make-up on. I'll let you do that. So it's best first thing in the morning and that what this is gonna do is that this is gonna open up the sinus cavity,
but it also stimulates the nerve plexuses here, it's gonna help balance out the endocrine system. So this helps the body basically change with the season. Instead of being in dis-harmony with the season, the body harmonizes with the season.

So you do that every morning, not just in spring. No, I do it every morning. In the spring it's the most important, just because there's a lot more stuff in the air, you wanna keep especially these passages open. There's a whole other set to do. We do stuff with the abdomen, perhaps we can do a whole show on that, but for the spring these two just takes a couple minutes. And the other things that's really nice to do that we do in yoga is we actually massage the teeth, instead of brushing them first thing in the morning. Your tooth brush is used to get the food particles out of your mouth. Sure.
And first thing in the morning, you haven't eaten, there's no food particles. You want to freshen the mouth. In yoga they've been doing this for thousands of years.

Anciently they used neem leaves, crushed up neem leaves, which you can find in some natural tooth paste, but any tooth paste will do. Preferably organic, natural toothpaste. Massage each tooth all the way to the root of the tooth to the gum, massage each tooth in your mouth and then massage your tong and just massage around inside of your mouth. What that will do is that it will help of course clear the mouth, but you've got nerves attaching to each of your teeth and you've got acupuncture meridians, so this helps to keep the whole head clear.  Does that kind of clear your head? That clears, that sort of pre-clears you for the day. So you find if you've got allergies, they just won't be as bad. If you do it for a week or so, I've got a lot of students that their allergies just don't attack them anymore. Really? That's interesting. And a lot of students get off their medications.

Foods That Reduce Acid Reflux and Fight Heartburn

Do you suffer from acid reflux? One of our viewers is having problems and wants to know, Are there foods to eat or foods to avoid to try to reduce the symptoms. And there are all kinds of things that you can do that should help. Start by taking a look at your diet. And ideally start with a bland diet and then gradually add foods back in to see which are the foods that are bothering you.

Because acid reflux and heartburn are really very personal and very individualized. But, to start with, try to focus on a diet that is low in fat and high in protein. And eat smaller meals more often. So, it's better to eat smaller meals and not stretch out your stomach and not overeat. So, try not to eat to where you're full. Completely full. Eat smaller meals more often.

Don't eat a couple hours before you go to bed and keep the meals relatively bland and add in one by one, those suspect foods. Suspect foods are citrus. Lemons, and oranges, and tomatoes, and anything made with citrus. So what might be popular that most people are eating is tomato sauce, and spaghetti, and pizza, and salsa. All of those things can be bothersome. And your beverages. Any caffeinated, even decaffeinated beverages, so coffee, and teas, and colas can be a problem. As can anything with carbonation. So think flat beverages without caffeine.

Avoid alcohol. Chocolate, mint, peppermint, shockingly enough those, too, can be a problem, but maybe not for you. So, cut back on those foods, eat a bland diet. When you do go to bed, try to elevate the head of your bed by pillows or you can use blocks. Quitting smoking is also recommended to minimize those symptoms. As is losing weight. So, if you're overweight, you might have some problems associated with that and gastric reflux. So by a combination of a bland diet and doing some of these lifestyle, making some lifestyle changes, you should be able to reduce the symptoms, and if not, see your doctor and see if medications are in order for you.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey Diet for Weight Loss

With two thirds of Americans overweight or obese, it's no wonder one of our viewers wants to know, does a combination of apple cider vinegar, honey, and water promote fat burning and weight loss? Well, I'm sorry to say that there is no scientific evidence to support such a claim. The combination of apple cider vinegar, and honey, and water is an age-old elixir that's been touted as miraculous. That it can detoxify and help lose weight among other benefits.

But the evidence is not there. And your body doesn't need to be detoxed. We have organs that take care of that. So, don't worry about detoxing. When it comes to weight loss, the tried and true formula is reducing calories, increasing your exercise. That's what works. That's what gives lasting results. If you go on a diet that includes apple cider vinegar, honey, and water, chances are it's going to be a very low-calorie diet. And that's what causes the weight loss. But, very low calorie diets are hard to stick with.

Usually you come off of them and when you do, chances are that weight comes back. Sometimes comes back plus more weight. So, fad diets don't work. Stick with what you do know that works. And that's cutting calories. So, save your money. And if you wanna use apple cider vinegar, there's no harm in it unless you're taking large doses. It is an acid so it can burn your esophagus and your stomach, so be careful. It can also interact with medications. So, use it sparingly. Use it in cooking. And in cooking, use it to help you cut back on sodium, or sugar, or fats. Because it's got great flavor and it's wonderful in cooking. But, as a fad diet remedy, thumbs down.

Top 6 Natural Remedies for Acid Reflux

When food and acid splash into the esophagus, they cause belching, heartburn, and in some severe cases, chest pains. Some individuals have experienced pain so intense that they thought they were having a heart attack. If a person's experiencing acid reflux on a regular basis, the acids will irritate the esophagus, which may advance scarring, ulceration, inflammation, or hemorrhaging. According to authors and doctors,if acid reflux persists, it could lead to esophageal cancer. So here are my Top 6 ways to balance acid reflux :

#1 balance your hydrochloric acid levels in your stomach. increasing the natural production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach is the first step to prevent acid reflux. replaced cheap table salt with high quality himalayan crystal salt because it contains chloride and dozens of trace minerals the body needs I also recommend taking a plant derived Betaine HCL supplement 5 to 10 minutes before meals. This is an extremely effective way of preventing acid reflux symptoms.

#2 Change your diet : processed foods and sugars are almost guaranteed to cause acid reflux. eat fresh organic fruits and vegetables check out my brand new body cleansing diet and take a good probiotic supplement like Latero-flora. this will also help balance your bowel with good bacteria.

#3 taken digestive enzymes supplement : Enzymes are found in abundance in raw food but the act of cooking food destroys these health promoting structures. There are many good enzyme suppements available and the best one that I recommend is a product called Veganzyme.

#4 Take raw organic apple cider vinegar : I recommend taking 1 tablespoon of raw organic apple cider vinegar mixed in about 4-6 ounces of purified water before each meal. this will help calm the stomach acids and suport digestion. this is one of my favorite fast-acting home remedy for acid reflux.

#5 take organic baking soda : mix a teaspoon a glass of water, stir and drink before it stops fizzing. bicarbonate is the active ingredient and it's a wonderful product for acid reflux however if you have a high blood pressure or if you are on a sodium restricted diet, it's best to get approval from your doctor first.

#6 Take Organic Aloe Vera Juice: Aloe vera juice supports digestion and is another remedy for acid reflux. I recommend drinking 1oz. of organic aloe vera juice mixed in 2oz of water when acid reflux symptoms begin. If you suffer from acid reflux, the chances are your body is pretty toxic.

I also suggest the full body cleanse starting with colon cleansing then moving on the liver gallbladder cleansing and then doing harmful organism cleanse and chemical and toxic metal cleansing.

How to Naturally Cure Acid Reflux

These are issues that millions upon millions of people struggle with on a regular basis. In this video I'll go through the exact acid reflux diet, the best supplements for acid reflux along with the lifestyle changes you need to make in order to help overcome acid reflux for good. This is something that I've helped thousands of patients overcome in my years of practice.

So step number one, let's talk about what causes and triggers acid reflux. Typically it's an enzyme deficiency, if you're not getting enough enzymes in your diet, that's a one big issue along with if your stomach... if the acid is imbalanced in your stomach. Typically it's caused from low stomach acid, so your stomach is not producing enough acid and not enough enzymes being produced in your body. So again, lack of acid, lack of enzymes, that's what's causing your acid reflux. So in order to address that, we need to do a few things.

Number one we got to change your diet and there are a few things that trigger acid reflux. Consuming citrus fruits, tomatoes, chocolate and carbonated beverages like soda, those can trigger acid reflux along with consuming too many grain products and hydrogenated oils. Those are the first foods you want to actually remove from your diet. Then what you want to do is start replacing those with foods that are high in enzymes and foods that are easy to digest. Doing vegetables, doing most forms of fruits, doing organic meats, doing bone broth. Consuming foods that are easy to digest, that's where you want to start in terms of diet is getting those into your diet. So again, organic meat products, fruits and vegetables are a great place to start when you're replacing those foods in your diet.

The next step to overcome acid reflux is you have to start using certain supplements. And the best supplements that can help you are taking a digestive enzyme supplement, two caps with meals of digestive enzymes along with taking something called HCL with pepsin. That's hydrochloric acid with pepsin and what you'll do with hydrochloric acid is you'll take one capsule and you'll only take this when you consume meat or a form of protein and see if you get a warm feeling in your stomach. And then eventually you'll go to two caps into three, but hydrochloric acid is the acid your stomach produces that helps to break down food, so actually getting more of that acid will help you with digestion. But really digestive enzymes are the first place to start.

If the enzymes help all the way, you don't need to do hydrochloric acid but if that still isn't enough then you can add in those in as well. The third step is lifestyle; you really need to eat less at your meals. So oftentimes, acid reflux is caused from stuffing yourself, eating too much, eating too fast. So eating too much, eating too fast is a major cause of acid reflux. And step number four to naturally cure acid reflux, is to start using apple cider vinegar. This is the number one natural cure or home remedy is apple cider vinegar and what you'll do is take one number tablespoon in a small amount of water and drink that before your meal. About ten minutes before your meal and apple cider vinegar contains probiotics enzymes and certain acids like acidic acid which actually helps you digest your food.

So this apple cider vinegar is the number one natural remedy for acid reflux that you'll want to start using. And you want to make sure that when you're buying apple cider vinegar that it has some of the cloudiness you can see there on the bottom. It's called the mother in it, you can see there it says organic, raw and filtered with the mother. This is what you'll want to start getting and of all the things, this is the most beneficial thing you can do to naturally overcome and heal acid reflux is start doing one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before your meals. With that and enzymes will make a big difference in turns of natural treatments. So remember this if you're looking at overcoming acid reflux.

Number one, get some of those triggers out like doing too much citrus, tomato sauce, hydrogenated oils, sugar, grain products. Get those out and start consuming more fruits, more vegetables and organic meat products. Step number two; hey get some of those good supplements like digestive enzymes as well as hydrochloric acid. Step number three, change your lifestyle, don't over eat and eat slowly. Try and chew about 20 to 30 times before you swallow and start using apple cider vinegar. If you follow those steps, you're going to find yourself well on your way to overcoming acid reflux for good. By the way, if you want to see a full guide on how to overcome acid reflux, I have a video on my website, go to draxe.com, that's d-r-a-x-e dot com, just search apple cider vinegar and I actually have two articles.
