Home Remedies for Canker Sores

There couldn't be a worse morning when you wake up with a bad taste in the mouth, caused due to canker sores. Canker sores are mouth ulcers that are painful, but not contagious. Simply put, they are small crater-like ulcers with a white or yellow center. Usually, they heal within a couple of weeks. And they are mostly accompanied by a tingling or burning sensation around the affected area. Unlike cold sores, they are not caused by the herpes simplex virus.





But causes, there are many. For instance, accidental cheek bites, consumption of acidic or spicy foods, food allergies and sensitivities, emotional stress, nutritional deficiencies, low immunity and inflammatory bowel diseases. It is advised to take remedial measures as soon as you notice the initial signs or symptoms. A simple and fast way to get relief from pain and inflammation is to apply ice cubes on the affected area. To get relief form the painful canker sores these are some easy-to-do home remedies that you can try. For the first home remedy.


We take a quarter teaspoon of turmeric 51 teaspoon honey. Mix these two thoroughly. Then apply this on the affected area. Rinse it off after 15-20 minutes. For this next remedy to treat your canker sores. We need 1 cup of water. And coriander seeds. You may also use coriander leaves instead of coriander seeds For now I am using the seeds. We will take 1 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds. And boil it. After boiling the seeds in water. Strain the concoction. And rinse your mouth with this solution for about 3-4 times a day while it is still lukewarm. For this next home remedy to treat your canker sores, you need:

2 cups of water, take about 1 tablespoon of licorice root also known as mulethi. Soak the licorice root in water for about 2-3 hours. And use it as a mouth rinse. Now some quick tips to help you heal your canker sores. Soothe the affected area by applying cold used tea bags. Aloe vera gel and tea tree oil mixed in water also are helpful in providing relief. If you are prone to mouth sores, avoid using toothpaste containing sodium lauryl sulfate as it can cause irritation.
